What is your role at Muve Lakeway ASC?

As a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) here at Muve Lakeway ASC, I’m part of the team who helps prepare the operating room and assist your surgeon in a sterile environment. Although you probably will never remember meeting me due to anesthesia, you are my number one priority!

Why did you join the Muve team?

The answer is simple. We are a compassionate, unified group with an organization-wide vision of patient-centric care. Everything we do with Muve, no matter our role, is all about YOU and how we can optimize and transform your healthcare experience.

What were you up to before joining Muve?

I've been a CST for almost 11 years now. Before joining Muve, I was employed by several larger hospitals; the last one was local in our community. I can honestly say that joining Muve has been one of the best decisions I've ever made! I'm thankful for my other hospital experiences, but the difference between them and Muve is night and day!

Why did you choose to work in healthcare?

I've always felt that I've been blessed with incredible gifts that I'm meant to share in this life-long journey. My passion for making a difference in people’s lives led me to the operating room, where, for the past ten years, I’ve been able to bring my best self and know that I’m part of something special.

How would you describe the members of the Muve Lakeway team?

Ok, here’s where I have to brag a little bit… I absolutely LOVE my team! Can you imagine being able to come to work every day and feeling inspired by each and every person you work with? It’s incredible, but that’s how I feel! When each team member knows their efforts and strengths are appreciated and valued, magic happens. It creates a cycle that produces great, empowering and inspirational work. We're constantly seeking to better ourselves and our organization, checking in with one another for perspective on how to more efficiently carry out the vision and core values here at Muve.

How would you define innovation?

When I think of the word “innovation," I think of a modern approach toward a necessary solution. A shift if you will, to a cutting-edge thought process from old practiced methodology.

If you could describe Muve in one phrase, what would it be?

Refined and contemporary.

What's your favorite way to "Get Up And Muving?"

I'm a fitness enthusiast! I love going to the gym, hitting the trails, or playing outside with my family. I'm also a National Fitness competitor and am about to compete for my Pro Card in a few weeks (fingers crossed!).

What are you most proud of when it comes to Muve?

I'm most proud of my teammates, knowing that each member takes ownership of collaboratively changing the total healthcare experience in our joint replacement setting. What we're doing here is pioneering. I believe and know that I'm a part of something special that only Muve has been able to deliver to our patients and care partners.

...and lastly, what's your favorite Muve memory?

As a surgical technologist in a larger hospital setting for nine years, I rarely left the operating room. One of the things I love so much about Muve is the belief of personalizing the patient experience. After our patients are discharged from the ASC and become clients upstairs in the Stay Suites following their surgery, I’m able to visit and formally introduce myself sans anesthesia! We had a patient who let us know that “chocolate” would be very helpful in her recovery (I can relate - chocolate makes everything better, right?!). The night before her surgery, I baked her a dozen chocolate chip cookies. After she was settled, I went upstairs and introduced myself and presented my cookies, thinking she might enjoy some “pain control.” I'll always remember her thanking me with a smile that lit up the room!
