10 Questions with Muve Health: Meet Muve Lakeway Certified Nursing Assistant, Amanda
When patients are discharged from their joint replacement surgery at Muve Lakeway ASC, they are encouraged to begin their recovery journey safely and securely as Muve Lakeway Stay Suites clients. At the Stay Suites (which are located right upstairs from Muve Lakeway ASC in the same building!), Certified Nursing Assistants like Amanda oversee each client's immediate recovery needs, making sure they're comfortable, safe and confident to take on life with their new joint. Ensuring each client and their caregivers are comfortable and cared for, Amanda keeps nighttime watch over the wellness (and late-night cravings!) of clients at Muve Lakeway Stay Suites. Read below to learn more about Amanda, what brought her to Muve and why she believes Muve is effecting a big shift in the world of healthcare.
What is your role with Muve Health?
I assist our clients during their stay in the Muve Lakeway Stay Suites after their patient discharge from Muve Lakeway ASC (downstairs!) – ensuring their first post-discharge recovery days go smoothly in a caring, relaxed and fun setting. My goal is to help them feel confident and independent in their ability to transfer to their home environment. And also provide popcorn or ice-cream when those evening cravings occur!
Why did you join the Muve team?
It was an exciting opportunity to be part of a revolutionary new company and do something in healthcare different from the regular structure of patient care. I believe in the Muve care path and could visualize the success this would be for our patients and guests. Wow! It has definitely exceeded those original expectations.
What were you up to before joining Muve?
After living in the Middle East and raising our children, I moved to the U.S. (I'm originally from Scotland) and began to work in long-term care and with Hospice patients.
Why did you choose to work in healthcare?
"Be the change you want to see in the world." What is the change that you want Muve to make in the world of healthcare/patient experience?
I believe Muve has already began the change in the world of healthcare. We make patients in our Surgery Center and clients in our Stay Suites our number one priority and tailor our approach to suit their individual needs. We also help them take an active role in their journey to wellness. This isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” program!
What are you most proud of when it comes to Muve?
I feel so proud when I hear about the success of our guests – their relatively short recovery times and ability to continue in activities that they were unable to engage in pre-surgery.How do you think the Muve patient experience differs from other programs/settings?
As the Muve Lakeway Stay Suites are designed as a smaller environment, we get to know our clients pretty well on a more personal level (and their family guests too!). They genuinely enjoy being in the Suites and spending their first few days of post-discharge recovery in peaceful, relaxing environment while still enjoying knowledgeable, dedicated support.
What's your favorite way to "Get Up And Muving?"
Working out at bootcamp! I also love to be outdoors and especially go on some great hikes in fun places. Over the summer was able to spend time hiking in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and back home in Scotland. Which were both so beautiful (and challenging!).
What's your favorite Muve milestone or achievement to date?
There have been a few, but I think when we reached our 100th guest – that was very exciting!
...and lastly, if you could describe Muve in one word, what would it be?
One-of-a-kind.
