10 Questions with Muve Health: Meet our COO, Jane Falk

 

Muve Health COO Jane Falk is an original founder of our company. Certain that there was a way to create a care delivery environment that truly put patients back at the center and let care teams provide the level of care they knew they were capable of, Jane helped found Muve Health with the vision of doing better by patients and care providers. Jane brings over 25 years of nursing leadership and healthcare administration experience to Muve and she focuses our program development on superior clinical outcomes driven by evidence-based medicine, process efficiencies and flow, cultural development, and care team and patient engagement. What is your role as COO of Muve?

 

As COO, my responsibility is to guide the delivery of care to our patients and ensure we are achieving quality outcomes and an extraordinary patient experience.

Why did you found Muve Health?

My 25+ years of experience as a nurse and health care administrator led me to Muve. I witnessed first-hand the frustrations of physicians and nurses in their attempts to deliver high quality care. The traditional delivery model held so many roadblocks to effective delivery, I felt there had to be a better way. Muve has allowed us to reinvent the delivery of care with quality outcomes and patient experience at the forefront.

What is the change you want to see Muve make in the world of healthcare delivery?

Healthcare is a human business; our business is caring for people. That's an incredible responsibility. We must design models of care that allow our providers and clinicians to do just that: be human, provide exceptional experiences, and deliver on the highest quality of care.

Which Muve Value do you steward? Why?            

 

Partnership. To truly impact change we must understand all members of all contributing teams and value what they bring to the table. Physicians, Payers, Patients, Employees, Care Partners and the Community all have stake in the value we create. We must cultivate a partnership mentality to ignite change and meet all the desired outcomes.

Why did you choose to work in healthcare?

 

People! Health care allowed me to grow in my passion for science and technology but to also utilize those skills to impact lives. It's the best! In what other industry do you have as great an impact on people's lives? It is a heady concept but one I take very seriously. Caring for people and helping to drive transformative care delivery provides great personal and professional satisfaction. Making a difference means a lot to me.

What is your favorite Muve milestone or achievement to-date?

 

A favorite achievement, which always gives me pause, happens when I am describing our care delivery model to potential partners, teammates, investors or the health care community. I begin to see the head nod, then the smile, then the comment "It really is quite simple; it's how healthcare should be delivered!" It always leaves me speechless. This simple experience, which happens so frequently, reminds me every time of what we're trying to achieve and why transforming care delivery is so critical to our health care system as a whole. Every time this happens, I feel incredibly proud of the work we are doing and incredibly humbled and honored that we have the opportunity to drive this transformation.

What does Better Care By Design mean to you?

 

Better Care by Design describes how Muve is deliberate and intentional. Every action has a cause, every cause has an effect. For us to reduce variation in care delivery, we must intentionally provide the right care intervention at the right time and measure the impact of that intervention. It is designed to be intentional, with the outcome in mind always.

What is different about the Muve patient experience vs. other programs or care settings?

 

The Muve patient experience is not about the words or the score on the survey. It's really about the experience itself. Everything we do is centered on how the care experience can enable the patient to become an active participant in his or her own care. How do we really engage them? Empower them? Help them become drivers to their own care? And simply make them feel we are there for them? I hope they can sense a true passion and commitment to our desire to ensure they are safe, well-cared-for, empowered, and part of the larger team!

Describe Muve in one word or phrase:

 

Transformative.

 

What are you most proud of when it comes to Muve?

 

The people. Muve has tremendously talented individuals who share a passion for doing what's right and what will help change the delivery of health care. This passion drives incredible innovation and has really changed the health care experience for our physician partners, our patients and our employees.
