10 Questions with Muve Health: Meet Muve's Director of People, Derek

What is your role at Muve Health?

 

I’m the Director of People. Most companies would call my department HR. However, we’re focused on not only making Muve a great experience for patients, but an amazing place for our people to work as well.
 

Why did you join the Muve team?

Our leadership is amazing. Our mission to change healthcare is extraordinary and I hope other facilities follow this trend of a better way to deliver healthcare services.  

What were you up to before joining Muve?

I worked at a SAAS company focused on email data. I was their Director of People as well.

What Muve Value do you standard? Why? 

 

Transparency. I am a big believer in creating an environment where employees get continuous feedback around performance and every person is available to answer questions, even our CEO. We should be able to talk freely about the ups and downs of our business but also come together as a team tackle the issues.

Why did you choose to work in healthcare?

 
I loved working in technology companies but I wanted to have more impact on people. At Muve, we’re doing both. I get to see the amazing work our Product Development team is doing to build out our proprietary technology. Then, I hear inspiring stories about our Care Team’s ability to impact someone’s life through practice and change their views on healthcare.
 

What's different about the Muve patient experience versus other settings/programs?

 

Our Care Team! They've found a way to implement our care pathways and create an amazing experience for every person who walks into our building. 

 

What's your favorite way to "Get Up And Muving?"

 

I love being active. I’m always on a trail, bike, or in the gym. I also chase a puppy and 3-year-old around, which leaves no room for rest.

 

What is your favorite Muve milestone or achievement to date?

 

Opening our doors for the first time will always be a big achievement. It was pretty special to see the facility operational at that point and get such positive feedback from the patients about their experience.

What excites you most about Muve in 2018?

Our growth!
 

...and lastly, if you could describe Muve in one word, what would it be?

 

Magical.
