What is your role as CEO of Muve?

As the CEO, my job is to ensure we're focused on and achieving the right things, and to provide our team with the guidance and resources they need to do their best work

Why did you found Muve?

We created Muve to improve the delivery of healthcare; in particular, the way total hip and knee replacement procedures are performed. However, our drive for improvement is much more than just improving the surgery. Our vision encompasses the level of service, the depth of education and the quality of the environment - essentially, the entire experience of care. We have tremendously talented and dedicated healthcare professionals in the U.S., we just need to put them in a position to enable them to perform at their highest level, which, as we're proving at Muve, translates to the best care and experience for patients.

What is your vision for Muve Health?

I'd like to see Muve become the model for healthcare in the 21st century, the standard upon which others are measured.

Why did you choose to work in healthcare?

As a kid, I played lots of sports and for me, sports and visits to the orthopedist's office went hand in hand. From these experiences, I became fascinated with how these professionals helped "repair" people and I held this interest through college. At Penn State, I took my interest in orthopedics and married it with my major in health policy and administration which set me on a career path in healthcare. For the last 25 years, I've worked in various segments of this enormous, yet often challenged industry working to do my part in solving for the many problems we face, but with an unwavering belief that we can create a better healthcare system for everyone.

What's your favorite way to "Get Up and Muving?"

I love the outdoors and pretty much any physical activity. Living in Boulder Colorado, nature's provided us with a beautiful and accessible playground to enjoy year-round, so I try and take full advantage of this privilege by staying active running, biking, skiing, hiking - pretty much anything I can do to be outside.

What Does Better Care By Design mean to you?

Better care by Design describes our intentionality in all that we do. It's a purposefulness to continuously ensure that everything we do is exactly designed to meet the needs and produce the best possible result for those we serve. For something as profoundly important has healthcare, particularly major surgeries such as a joint replacement, we shouldn't accept something that will "just do", we want to deliver a service to patients that is "exactly right".

What is your favorite Muve Milestone or achievement to-date?

As one of the founders of Muve, I've had the opportunity and privilege to see the company's growth from the very beginning. Much like the experience as a parent, being a part of the development and growth of something you love provides new milestones and achievements with every passing day. So, my favorite milestone was what we accomplished yesterday and what we'll achieve tomorrow. Not quite a direct answer, but I'm exercising the CEO's prerogative!

What is different about the Muve patient experience vs. other programs or care settings?

I hope the difference is in everything in ways large and small. I hope patients feel the impact of our design-centric approach to their care and experience from the physical environment we've created, to the simplicity of the billing, to how our team takes the time to know about what matters to them and their families, to how we maintain connection and engagement with our patients throughout their first year of recovery.

What are you most proud of when it comes to Muve?

I'm most proud of the tremendously positive response we've had from patients about their care and experience and from what our affiliated surgeon partners and care team say about working with Muve.

...and Lastly, how would you describe the team that Muve has assembled?

Easy - they are Dedicated Professionals.
